Our History

The Longmont Twin Peaks Rotary Club was chartered by Rotary International on May 18, 1985. Its formation was sponsored by the Longmont Rotary Club. Our Club is an enthusiastic and dedicated group and we are proud to be a vital part of the largest and oldest service organization in the world.

 

How Our Club Functions

Our Club is run by a Board of Directors, elected by the members. The Board meets once a month and is responsible for making policy, initiating or considering various projects, and keeping the club’s finances in order. The Board of Directors reports directly to the members, and does not undertake any important projects without approval of the membership.

The “life blood” of all Rotary Clubs, and our Club, is our individual members. Each of our members serves on committees of his or her choosing.

Our Club organizes and runs several special projects and fund raising events each year.  Our biggest project is the annual Chuckwagon Breakfast held in conjunction with the Boulder County Fair Parade. Our Club gathers to have fun flipping pancakes and serving up eggs and sausage while raising money for several scholarships for local high school seniors.

Additionally, the Club organizes and funds local and international service projects addressing issues such as literacy, clean water, health and hunger. The Club helps to build goodwill and understanding throughout the world by participating in international youth and professional exchange programs. We also organize social events, which include family members.

 

Your Commitment as a Member of Twin Peaks Rotary 

First, and foremost, is to attend our weekly Thursdays meetings from noon to 1:15pm at the First Lutheran Church on the corner of 3rd & Terry. Those who can’t make a meeting are encouraged to “make up” at another Rotary Club anywhere in the world or attend other Twin Peaks Rotary events and socials.

Second, as a member of our club, you are encouraged to get involved on one or more of the club committees. We have a wide variety of opportunities for you to use your talents and interests.

Third, you are eager to support, with your time and energy, the service projects and fundraisers we engage in throughout the year.

Fourth, you are expected to pay quarterly dues of $190 in a timely manner. Dues include the cost of the weekly luncheon meetings.

Fifth, you engage in the principle of “Service Above Self.”
